ISLAMABAD: The Malaysian High Commission in Pakistan, in collaboration with a private hotel, launched “Journey to Malaysia: Exploring the Diverse Flavors and Culinary Traditions of Southeast Asia.”
This vibrant six-day festival will run from September 4 to September 9, 2024, at Zamana Restaurant, offering guests an immersive dive into Malaysian culture and cuisine.
The event was officially launched on September 4 by Aziz Boolani, CEO of Serena Hotels, and Ambassador Dato’ Azhar Mazlan, the Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan. The opening ceremony marked the start of a week dedicated to showcasing Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage and cultural diversity.
Attendees will have the chance to enjoy iconic Malaysian dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai, and Teh Tarik, celebrating Malaysia’s all-day breakfast culture that is cherished across Southeast Asia.
The festival will also feature captivating cultural performances, including traditional Melayu dances from various Malaysian states, highlighting the country’s diverse heritage and traditions.
Aziz Boolani expressed his appreciation for the Malaysian High Commission’s partnership, noting the significance of such events in strengthening the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia, which has thrived for 67 years.
Ambassador Dato’ Azhar Mazlan emphasized, “Today, we are not just sharing our food but also our stories, traditions, and a piece of Malaysia’s essence with our friends in Pakistan. This festival celebrates our shared heritage and the bonds that connect us as neighbors in this vibrant region of Asia.
Malaysia’s cuisine reflects our diverse culture, blending influences from Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions. Through ‘Journey to Malaysia,’ we aim to enhance understanding and appreciation of our rich cultural heritage.”
As Zamana Restaurant transforms into a Malaysian haven, guests will experience the heart of Malaysia through its lively culture and culinary traditions. This festival also supports Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to have its Breakfast Culture recognized on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
