ISLAMABAD: Justice Qazi Faez Isa will hear the appeals against the objections raised by the Registrar Office in petitions, seeking an investigation into the alleged foreign conspiracy behind ousting former premier Imran Khan’s government, in his chamber on February 22 (tomorrow).

The Supreme Court on Monday fixed for hearing appeals against the Registrar Office’s objections in the petitions. Earlier, Supreme Court Justice Sardar Tariq Masood had recused himself from hearing the case and sent the matter back to Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial.

Who filed appeals?

The petitions had been filed by Advocate Zulfiqar Bhutta, Naeemul Hassan and Syed Tariq Badar. The petitioners prayed that a high-powered commission of inquiry be constituted to hold inquisitorial proceedings with regard to the anti-state activities conducted by the respondent political parties through mala-fide and abuse of power under the provisions of the constitution and for committing treason and sedition against the legally and democratically elected government. Imran Khan’s government was removed through a vote of no-confidence in April 2022.
