Kamal Ahmed Rizvi Remembered on Birth Anniversary

KARACHI: Pakistan’s esteemed dramatist, author, and actor, Syed Kamal Ahmed Rizvi was remembered on his 94th birth anniversary on Wednesday.

The celebrated satirist was born on May 1, 1930, in British India. He began his theatrical career at the age of 19.

During his long journey, along with acting, he wrote many memorable drams and also excelled in the field of direction.

Renowned PTV drama ‘Alif Noon’ brought Rizvi’s fame to the zenith. Kamal played the role of Allan and Rafi Khawar played the role of Nanha and their pair became extremely famous.

Kamal Ahmed Rizvi wrote more than 20 plays. He also directed those plays and also acted in them.

He was awarded Pride of Performance by the government of Pakistan in 1989 in recognition of his services to the entertainment industry.

Chor Machay Shoor, Mr Shaitan, Mera Hamdam Meea Dost, Aadhi Baat, Sahib Bibi, and Ghulam are among his famous plays.

He died of a heart attack in 2015 at the age of 85.

Kamal Ahmed Rizvi had always stayed away from undue publicity and kept a modest profile despite being a popular celebrity.

His work is widely appreciated for exposing corrupt practices in society through comedy and satire.
