KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Monday that the maximum temperature in Karachi city is likely to be between 39°C to 41°C today.

It said that while the maximum temperature in Karachi is likely to be 39°C to 41°C, the minimum temperature was recorded at 30°C.

The department said, “The percentage of humidity in the air is 41 percent,” and added that the wind blowing from the southeast is 18kmph.

The chief meteorologist of PMD, Dr Sardar Sarfaraz in Karachi said that the possibility of rainfall in a single spell couldn’t be ruled out, local media reported.

Sarfaraz said, “50-60mm or more of rain is expected in Karachi, adding that the intensity of storms is raising due to climate change.

He said, “It may take 3-4 days for Biparjoy’s intensity to subside after it hits.”

The PMD further shared that hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next twelve hours.

Dust with thunderstorms and rain with isolated hailstorms are likely in  North East Balochistan, Kashmir, Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and lower Sindh.

The chief meteorologist said Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, and Mirpurkhas might receive 200-300mm of rain.
