ATHENS: Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) have dismissed claims of development and normalcy in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and strongly criticized India for such false claims.

APHC leaders denounced the Indian government, alleging that since August 5, 2019, Kashmiris have been deprived not only of their identity but also of their economic, social, and political rights under the Hindutva regime.  Speaking at a press conference in Athens, APHC leaders briefed the Kashmiri and Pakistani diaspora on the severe conditions prevailing in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They dismissed India’s development claims in the area.

The leaders accused India of employing various strategies to fortify its illegal occupation in the region, highlighting recent legislative changes such as amendments regarding domicile laws. These amendments now confer job opportunities, voting rights, and land ownership in the disputed territory, altering the region’s socio-political landscape.

Furthermore, APHC leaders claimed that India was actively attempting to alter the religious fabric of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They pointed out that while there were approximately 490 temples in the region in 1990, the Modi-led government is reportedly planning to construct an additional 50,000 temples, for which funds and land have purportedly already been allocated.
