ISLAMABAD: Hurriyat leaders have once again asked the Kashmiri people to observe August 5 as “Youm-e-Istehsal”, marking the 5th anniversary of India’s Hindutva regime’s unilateral decision to revoke Article 370, which granted special status to Occupied Kashmir.

According to media reports, the leaders including Advocate Arshad Iqbal, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Muhammad Saleem Zargar, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Khawaja Firdous, Ghulam Nabi War, Advocate Devinder Singh Behl, Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Haseeb Wani, Muhammad Aqib, Fareeda Behanji, and Hafsa Bano have issued statements in Srinagar strongly condemning the move as a severe attack on Kashmiri identity and territorial integrity.

They condemned it as a calculated conspiracy to change the territory’s demographic makeup and strip its locals of their resources, identity, jobs, and right to self-determination.

The leaders also strongly criticized the Indian government’s settler-colonial policies, practices and anti-Kashmiri laws, calling on the world to take effective action against India’s acts in occupied Jammu and Kashmir
