Kashmiris Pay Tribute to AJK Founding President Sardar Ibrahim Khan on 21st Death Anniversary

MIRPUR: The 21st death anniversary of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, the esteemed Kashmiri leader and founding President of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government, was observed with solemnity and respect across the liberated territory on Wednesday.

The occasion was marked by a public holiday in AJK, allowing citizens to honor the legacy of this pivotal figure in the Kashmir freedom struggle.

Special ceremonies took place throughout AJK to pay tribute to Sardar Ibrahim Khan for his significant contributions to the Kashmir cause.

The major commemoration was held at his mausoleum in Rawalakot, where Quran Khawani was organized alongside a special function celebrating his lifelong dedication to the Kashmir freedom movement.

In Mirpur, a prayer meeting was convened in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, chaired by DC Yasir Riaz Chaudhry, to pray for the repose of Sardar Ibrahim Khan’s soul. This was followed by a ceremony marking the death anniversary.

Notable speakers at various events, including seasoned jurist Syed Nishaat, former President of Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Party, and AJK Supreme Court Bar Association member Hussain Kazmi Advocate, paid heartfelt tributes to the late leader. They recognized his pivotal role in the Kashmir struggle and his contributions to the development and progress of AJK.

The speakers emphasized that the best tribute to Sardar Ibrahim Khan’s legacy would be to renew the commitment to his mission and continue advancing the Kashmir cause.

They called for a prompt resolution of the Kashmir issue, aligning with the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and adhering to United Nations resolutions that advocate for the right to self-determination.

The speakers urged that honoring Sardar Ibrahim Khan’s memory involves following his example to achieve the goals he set for the liberation and self-determination of Jammu and Kashmir.
