MUZAFFARABAD: The people of Kashmir, residing on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), are preparing to observe Youm-e-Istehsal (Kashmir Exploitation Day) on Monday, August 5, to condemn the Indian government’s illegal revocation of the special status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
This significant day marks the fifth anniversary of the illegal decision made by the Indian government on August 5, 2019, to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution, which granted special autonomy to IIOJ&K. The move has been widely criticized for its disregard of international law and UN resolutions regarding the disputed region.
Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), from Chitral to Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan to Kohistan, Pakistani nation is set to organize a series of protest rallies, demonstrations, and walks. These events aim to voice their disapproval of the Modi government’s decision and to express solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren in the occupied territory.
Transport unions, including those representing wagons and rickshaws, will also participate in the protests, showcasing their support through coordinated rallies across the province.
Members of the civil society, including lawyers, politicians, and students, will gather in front of the Peshawar Press Club to highlight the human rights violations and political injustices faced by the people of IIOJ&K.
