MIRPUR: Kashmiris residing on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and across the globe will observe Indian Republic Day on January 26 as a black day, aiming to draw the attention of the international community to the prolonged and unlawful Indian occupation of Jammu & Kashmir.

As per the spokesperson for Azad & Jammu Kashmir, the black day commemoration serves as a stark reminder to the international community of the brutalities and human rights violations perpetrated by Indian occupying forces in the region.

This annual observance stands as a robust protest against India’s continuous forcible occupation of Jammu & Kashmir and its persistent denial of the internationally recognized right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people for the past 76 years.

This year’s protest holds added significance, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of India’s revocation of Article 370 and Article 35-A, which removed the special status of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Various social, political, and public organizations have organized protest rallies and processions, particularly in cities like Mirpur.

The local civil society is coming together to express strong opposition against Indian imperialism, demanding a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue during the protest demonstrations.

The Kashmiri people remain steadfast in raising their voices against the illegal Indian occupation of J&K that has persisted for over seven decades.
