LONDON: The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, reportedly shared an emotional moment with her father-in-law, King Charles, just hours before revealing her shocking cancer diagnosis in a video statement on Friday.

According to sources cited by The Sun, King Charles, who is also battling cancer, made a special trip from London to join Kate Middleton for a private lunch. During this intimate gathering, the pair discussed the upcoming announcement regarding Middleton’s health.

The insider revealed that the lunch was a rare occurrence, highlighting the significance of the moment shared between King Charles and his “beloved daughter-in-law.” They discussed Middleton’s upcoming video statement and likely exchanged thoughts and support as they both navigate their respective battles with cancer.

“It is highly unusual for just the two of them to sit down together like this,” the insider shared. “The King had already been made aware that the woman he calls ‘my beloved daughter-in-law’ had cancer.”

The source continued, detailing the emotional impact of their meeting, stating, “They would have had lots to discuss and share because just weeks earlier the King had begun his course of treatment and dealt with announcing his diagnosis. The King left his lunch feeling very emotional.”

In her video statement, Kate Middleton confirmed her cancer diagnosis, revealing that what was initially thought to be a non-cancerous condition had turned out to be cancer. She disclosed that she underwent major abdominal surgery in January, followed by the recommendation for preventative chemotherapy as part of her treatment.
