LONDON: The Princess of Wales Kate Middleton said on Friday she is “making good progress” in her cancer treatment and will attend King Charles III’s ceremonial birthday parade on Saturday. This marks Kate’s first public appearance since her diagnosis earlier this year.

Kate, aged 42 and the wife of Prince William, had disclosed in March that she was undergoing chemotherapy for an unspecified form of cancer.

In a statement released on Friday, Kate expressed gratitude for the support she has received and acknowledged the challenges of undergoing chemotherapy. She mentioned experiencing both good and bad days but affirmed her determination to continue her treatment regimen.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” Kate stated. She indicated that while she looks forward to participating in public engagements over the summer, she remains aware of the ongoing nature of her treatment. “I am looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate said.

The palace shared a new photo of Kate, taken earlier in the week in Windsor, depicting her casually dressed in jeans and a blazer, standing next to a tree. This image accompanies the announcement of her attendance at the King’s Birthday Parade.

The palace conveyed King Charles III’s delight at Kate’s decision to join the Trooping the Color ceremony, an annual military parade that commemorates the monarch’s official birthday in June. King Charles III, who is also undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, is expected to oversee the event, which features troops in full dress uniform parading past the king with their ceremonial flag.
