MOSCOW: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has put forth a proposal for the establishment of a fiber-optic communication line connecting Russia, Kazakhstan, and Iran. The announcement came during a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Saint Petersburg.
President Tokayev emphasized the potential benefits of the proposed communication line, stating, “I propose that a fiber-optic communication line along the Russia-Kazakhstan-Iran route be considered to connect to existing international lines running along the coast of the Indian Ocean.”
He went on to highlight the significance of this initiative, noting that it would not only provide an alternative route for transit traffic in the Eurasian region but also enhance the global data logistics position of the participating countries.
The proposed fiber-optic communication line aligns with efforts to foster connectivity and cooperation in the Eurasian space. Establishing such infrastructure would contribute to the technological advancement and integration of the participating nations, opening up new possibilities for enhanced communication and data exchange.
