BAKU: Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Baku, Alim Bayel, has congratulated Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, on the country’s chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), scheduled for November 2024 in Baku.
The embassy of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan reported that during their meeting, Ambassador Bayel commended Minister Babayev on Azerbaijan’s upcoming role in hosting COP29, emphasizing its significance as one of the most substantial events to be held in Azerbaijan, both in terms of scale and participation.
Minister Babayev, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the acknowledgment and discussed the extensive preparations underway for COP29. The discussions extended to the advancement of green diplomacy and the exchange of perspectives on current environmental issues at the global and regional levels.
Additionally, the bilateral meeting addressed several initiatives from Kazakhstan aimed at promoting climate dialogue in the region. The parties also agreed to collaborate on initiatives concerning the introduction and reintroduction of various animal species.
The decision to designate Azerbaijan as the host country for COP29 was formally announced in Dubai on December 11, 2023, allowing ample time for Azerbaijan to prepare for the event scheduled for November.
