Nauryz holds a significant cultural importance as an ancient festival heralding the arrival of Spring, observed in various regions including the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, the Balkans, and East Africa. With origins dating back over 3,000 years, Nauryz is closely associated with the ancient Farsi religion of Zoroastrianism, symbolizing rebirth and renewal with the transition from winter to spring.

The festival is deeply rooted in traditions, such as the custom in Kazakhstan of filling vessels with water on the eve of Nauryz to symbolize wishes for good health in the new year. Additionally, the lighting of candles underscores the importance of both water and fire in the festivities.

Nauryz marks the beginning of a series of celebrations in the Zoroastrian calendar, including Tirgan in summer, Mehregan in fall, and Yalda in winter, signifying the cyclical nature of life and seasons.
