ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin on Monday said that his country was keen to further strengthen and deepen trade relations with Pakistan as the two nations had good potential to trade with each other in multiple fields.

The ambassador was talking to a delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry that called on him led by its President, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari.

The envoy spoke about the business opportunities in Kazakhstan and its advantages as a regional hub.

He welcomed the chamber’s plan to take a delegation to his country and assured the provision of all required logistical and organisational support to make the trip successful.

ICCI President Bakhtawari said that both countries could cooperate in various fields, including agriculture, energy, textiles, construction, tourism, engineering equipment, pharmaceuticals, machinery, banking and finance for mutual benefits.

He said the chamber had planned to take a large delegation to Kazakhstan in July to interact with Kazakh businessmen and develop strong business ties with them to explore all untapped sectors of mutual cooperation.

He thanked the envoy for his assurance to provide all required support to the delegation.

Direct flights between Kazakhstan and Pakistan

Bakhtawari lauded the launch of direct flights by Kazakhstan with Pakistan and stressed expediting its work for their early start.

He said the Pakistani ports give the shortest route to the land-locked country Kazakhstan to the Arabian Sea. He emphasized that both nations should establish railway and land links to enhance business ties.

Faad Waheed, ICCI Senior Vice President, said both countries were gateways for each other to easily access their respective regional markets and called for developing enhanced cooperation to exploit that potential.
