Kazakhstan to Support Peace Treaty Between Azerbaijan and Armenia: President Tokayev

ASTANA: Kazakhstan is interested in the soonest conclusion of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.

In an interview with the “Azerbaijan” newspaper ahead of his state visit to Azerbaijan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his country’s eagerness to facilitate the swift conclusion of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

President Tokayev commended the ongoing efforts for the revival of Karabakh, noting significant developments in transportation, social amenities, and tourist infrastructure in the region.

During his previous visit to Baku in August 2022, President Tokayev announced the construction of the Kurmangazy Center for Children’s Creative Development in Fuzuli as a gift from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. He emphasized that this center would symbolize the strong bond of friendship and mutual support between the two nations.

Kazakhstan’s Initiatives

The agenda for President Tokayev’s current visit includes the official inauguration of the Kurmangazy Center, along with discussions on collaborative projects between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Notably, a Kazakh company has been granted a project to construct the Central District Hospital in Fuzuli, reflecting the commitment to further joint initiatives in the future.

President Tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan’s interest in supporting the rejuvenation of Karabakh and highlighted the importance of collective efforts in promoting its development. He emphasized that the revitalization of the region’s infrastructure would not only benefit Azerbaijan but also contribute to the broader South Caucasus region’s progress.

President Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s readiness to support any initiatives aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the Eurasian region. As an advocate for international peacekeeping initiatives, Kazakhstan stands ready to assist in facilitating a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
