PESHAWAR: The first case of polio virus infection for this year has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, province with a nine-month-old baby girl in the Mohmand district.
In response, Chief Minister KP, Ali Amin Gandapur, expressed serious concern over the situation and ordered an inquiry to identify officials responsible for any negligence or laxity. He also issued directives to suspend the District Health Officer (DHO) and Polio Coordinator of Mohmand district.
Additionally, he called for an investigation into the poor planning of polio vaccination efforts in the region. Gandapur emphasized that the quality of polio vaccinations must be significantly improved across all districts to protect children from this debilitating illness.

“Eradicating the polio virus is a top priority for the KP government,” he claimed. He urged teachers, religious leaders, and community members to support the government in achieving this goal. Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced that the government would provide treatment for the polio-infected girl from Mohmand.
