Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Upper Regions, Sawat, Kalam, Chitral Receive Heavy Snowfall

PESHAWAR: The Kalam Valley in Swat experienced frigid temperatures on Monday following heavy snowfall and rainfall, with the scenic resort receiving 24 inches of snow and 55mm of rain.

According to the Meteorological Office, Saidu Sharif and Kalam in Swat recorded 55mm of rainfall each, while Kalam witnessed 24 inches of snowfall in the past 24 hours. Malam Jabba received 18 inches of snow, Drosh got 2 inches, and Chitral and Dir Upper received 0.8 inches of snowfall.

Meanwhile, upper areas of the Hazara division also received rain and snowfall, bringing a chill to the weather.

Snowfall commenced on Sunday in the high-altitude regions of Kaghan, Siren, and Konsh valleys early in the morning and persisted intermittently throughout the day.

Due to heavy snowfall, roads connecting these valleys to the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road and Shinkiari-Goscha Road were blocked, causing inconvenience for locals.

Meanwhile, the lower regions of the division experienced rainfall, which began in the early morning and continued intermittently throughout the day.

In other parts of the province, Mardan saw 41mm of rainfall, Cherat had 32mm, Drosh received 30mm, Landikotal recorded 28mm, Parachinar had 25mm, Chitral received 21mm, and Bannu recorded 14mm of rainfall.
