RIYADH: The King Faisal Prize (KFP) will reveal the names of its 2024 laureates on January 10 in Riyadh. The specialized selection committees, representing the Arab world’s most esteemed award, met at the KFP headquarters in preparation for the announcement.

The prizes will be awarded across various categories, including Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, medicine, and science. Prince Turki Al-Faisal will preside over the committee responsible for selecting the laureate in the “Service to Islam” category, as confirmed by KFP.

In 2022, the KFP General Secretariat had announced the topics for the 46th session of the KFP in 2024, covering Islamic Studies (“Islamic Legislations and their Contemporary Applications”), Arabic Language and Literature (“Non-Arab Institutions and their Endeavors to the Promotion of Arabic”), Medicine (“Management of Peripheral Disabilities”), and Science (“Biology”).

Nominations for the awards are submitted by scientific institutions, universities, research centers, and scientific and language councils, with the requirement that the nominee’s work is already published, informative, and contributes to the enrichment of knowledge for the advancement of humanity. Nominations are restricted to living individuals, and submissions from individuals or political entities are not accepted, said the General Secretariat.

The selection committees for the KFP comprise experts, specialists, and scholars from 22 countries worldwide. They will assess the nominated works in Riyadh to objectively and transparently choose the laureates in line with the rules and regulations established by the General Secretariat.

Prince Turki Al-Faisal is slated to announce the names of the 2024 laureates in all categories at the KFP headquarters in Riyadh on Wednesday. Established by the King Faisal Foundation in 1977 and first granted in 1979, the KFP aims to recognize outstanding contributions by individuals and institutions, benefiting Muslims and enriching human knowledge and development.
