AQABA: Jordan’s King Abdullah on Thursday stressed the need for the world to push for an immediate truce in the Gaza Strip and the protection of civilian population. King Abdullah held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Aqaba and discussed the recent situation in the Gaza Strip.
King Abdullah warned that if the Israeli aggression in Gaza continues it will have catastrophic consequences on the entire region. He called for immediate action to ensure help is delivered to the population in the Gaza Strip, who are facing a humanitarian devastation.
The king denounced violence by extremist settlers against the people of Palestine in the West Bank, and violations of Christian and Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem, which he said could lead to anarchy.

The King reaffirmed Jordan’s rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinian people from the West Bank and Gaza and also warned against any attempts to stop the West Bank and Gaza from jointly forming a Palestinian state.
Jordan’s King said that there would be no peace no stability without a just solution to the Palestinian issue on the ground of a two-state solution that fulfills the legitimate rights of the people of Palestine.
The King also highlighted the key role France and the European Union can play in support of a two-state solution by stepping up their efforts to help develop a political environment that can lead to a just, comprehensive and long-term peace.
On his part, Macron commended Jordan for its efforts to help ensure peace, based on a two-state solution, that can guarantee regional stability and security. The President also highlighted Jordan’s significant role in improving global coordination of the delivery of humanitarian help to the Gaza Strip, and maximizing the benefits, and the work the nation is doing to provide medical help through two field hospitals in Gaza.
