King Salman Chairs Saudi Cabinet Session

RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud on Tuesday chaired the Cabinet session in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari said the cabinet reviewed the meetings of senior Saudi officials with counterparts from different nations over the past few days to strengthen multilateral cooperation, and boosting coordination to address global challenges.

He said the Cabinet was briefed about the meeting between the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Amir of Kuwait and the talks between the Amir and the Crown Prince, which affirmed the expansion of ties between the two countries.

The Cabinet lauded the outcome of the second meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), in Riyadh.

The Cabinet deemed Saudi Arabia’s support of SAR 100 million for the IMCTC Fund as a testament to its approach to spread the values of moderation and rejecting extremism.

The meeting said that hosting the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the United Nation Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Saudi Arabia this December is a major step to expand cooperation.

Saudi Cabinet approves several MoUs

The Cabinet approved Saudi Arabia’s accession to the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and authorized the minister of foreign affairs to complete the necessary legal procedures regarding the agreement.

It also approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Sheikhdom of the Republic of Montenegro in the field of Islamic affairs.

It authorized the minister of industry and mineral resources, to discuss and sign an MoU for cooperation in the industrial field with Algeria.

The Cabinet authorized the minister of industry and mineral resources, or a deputy, to hold discussion and sign with the British side an MoU for cooperation in the field of biological, cellular, and genetic medicines.

It approved an MoU between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye for cooperation in the field of mining.

It also authorized the minister of investment, or a deputy, to hold talks and sign an MoU between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of Trinidad and Tobago aimed at promoting direct investment.

The Cabinet authorized the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), or a deputy, to discuss an MoU between the SFDA and the National Medical Products Administration in China aimed at cooperating in the regulation of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetic products.
