DOHA: The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is the only nation that has filed a bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

The statement came during the annual ceremony of the Asian Football Confederation, held in Doha, in the presence of AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, and the participation of the president of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al-Misehal, the SPA added.

In a statement which referred to the regulations approved by the FIFA Council, the football organizing body said that the international federation’s administration will launch the nomination process to host the 2030 and 2034 editions of the FIFA World Cup, in addition to an evaluation process for the nomination files, so that the organizing nations are expected to be unveiled during the FIFA Conference to be held by the 4th quarter of 2024.
