ISLAMABAD: According to French authorities, a man wielding a knife at the busy Gare du Nord station in Paris Several lightly wounded several people on Wednesday.
An unnamed police source said that the man was arrested after being shot at and wounded.
The Gare du Nord station acts as a hub for trains to northern Europe and London.
France’s Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin in a tweet stated that a lone person hurt several people this morning at the Gare du Nord. The person was “quickly neutralized”.
Darmanin thanked the police officers for their courageous and effective response.
Attack delayed trains at the train station
According to the live departure board of the rail operator SNCF, the attack resulted in major delays to trains at the railway station during the early morning rush.
It was not immediately clear what could be the attacker’s motive.
Since 2015, France has remained at a state of increased security level due to a series of attacks by extremists.
