Korea Week to be Observed to Display Korean Culture in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: In a first, Embassy of Republic of Korea is all set to observe 2024 Korea Week featuring events to display Korean and Pakistani culture, heritage, cuisine and history to promote people-to-people and bilateral ties.

Talking to the media, South Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Park Kijun said that the friendly ties between South Korea and Pakistan should go beyond friendly relations and it is about time to move from cordial relations to complementary bilateral relations.

Park Jae-lark, Deputy Head of Mission; In Yong Lee, Counselor and Gong Sooyun, first secretary and other senior diplomats were also present on the occasion.

“In this connection we have decided to observe 2024 Korea Week this year from October 22-27 which will feature four main events: National Foundation Day and Armed Forces Day Reception; Korea-Pakistan Movie Day, Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala, and 17th Korean Ambassador’s Cup National Taekwondo Junior Championship,” said Ambassador Park Kijun.

He stated that Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala would be a public event and it would provide opportunity to the people of both nations to better understand the strong cultural and historical bonds between the people of Pakistan and Korea.

He said that they are trying to attract as many people as possible to the event. He added that their goal is that around 10,000 people must attend the event. Cultural gala would be a grand event in Islamabad’s history, he added. The Ambassador said that it would help cement bilateral ties between the people of Pakistan and South Korea. He added that the embassy will spare no effort to make this event a success.

The Korea Week would feature two films from both nations each. Pakistani movies Superstar and Nayab would be presented at the event while Korean films Ode to my Father and The Himalays would be screened on the Movie Day.
