PESHAWAR: Anjuman-e-Tajraan Peshawar and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council on Thursday observed a strike to protest of ongoing inflation, the increase in the cost of utility bills and petroleum products in the country.

Lawyers boycotted the court hearings across the province. According to a press release from the Bar Council, rising electricity costs have made living difficult for an ordinary person. The KP Bar urged the government to help the common person and ensure the provision of essential utilities guaranteed by the constitution while condemning the most recent increase in the cost of electricity and petroleum products.

Similar protests against excessive electricity rates were seen by Anjuman-e-Tajran Peshawar, with all of the businesses completely shut. According to them, substantial sums were added to electricity bills despite ongoing load shedding. They pleaded with the government to get rid of the extra fees on electricity bills and help both the general public and the business community. —APP
