PESHAWAR: The caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, on Monday appreciated all institutions for conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections in the province.
Addressing a media conference regarding the performance of his government, the CM said that when he assumed charge, there was no money in the provincial kitty, even for payment of salaries to the government employees.
He said that in a very short span of time, the caretaker government managed funds, and now there were Rs.100 billion in the treasury, adding that Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar showed great compassion due to which the provincial government has left a surplus budget of Rs.62 billion.
He said that the interim government did not take any loans but rather managed to get an additional Rs.20 billion from the federal government in the form of the NFC award.
Arshad Hussain further said that 20 billion rupees was received under the head of net hydel profit instead of Rs.12 billion.
He said that the government gave admissions to as many as 33,000 students across KP, while development projects worth Rs.190 billion were approved by ECNEC.
The CM said that the government also secured KP’s due rights on gas under Article 158 of the Constitution.
Chief Minister Highlights Key Achievements
Likewise, industrial zones were established in different districts for industrial development in the province, he added, claiming that an investment of 50 billion rupees was expected from these industrial zones besides generating employment opportunities for seventy thousand people in the province.
The CM said that the establishment of 2 medical colleges in KP was approved while an agreement was inked with Google to train 20,000 youth at its own expense.
Similarly, a deal with the British Council was in the final stages to provide scholarships to ten thousand students, said the Chief Minister.
