KP Governor in Tajikistan to Explore Trade, Tourism Opportunities

DUSHANBE: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday met with Davlatali Said, Governor of Tajikistan’s Khalton Region and discussed various means to boost trade, investment, and tourism.

Governor Kundi, leading a high-level delegation comprising business and government figures, is currently on an official visit to Tajikistan.

During their meeting, both leaders emphasized Khalton’s strategic proximity to Afghanistan and its potential benefits for strengthening economic ties with Pakistan, particularly benefiting traders and investors from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Governor Kundi highlighted the abundant opportunities for commerce and investment in both nations, inviting Tajik authorities to visit Peshawar and engage with local business communities to stimulate economic growth and promote tourism.

“We should consider Peshawar and Khalton as sister regions due to their close geographical proximity, shared religion, and culture,” Governor Kundi emphasized, underscoring cultural ties and mutual interests in regional development.

Furthermore, they discussed Khalton’s involvement in the CASA-1000 project, aimed at electricity supply across Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, highlighting its potential to enhance regional connectivity and economic stability.

Governor Davlatali Said echoed Governor Kundi’s vision for trade, tourism, and economic development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressing eagerness for reciprocal visits to Peshawar to strengthen bilateral relations and explore collaborative opportunities further.

He emphasized that Governor Kundi’s visit symbolizes a broader diplomatic initiative to deepen ties with Tajikistan and leverage shared economic interests beyond tourism. He anticipated that future exchanges and joint ventures would continue to bolster regional cooperation and prosperity between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
