PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police department has barred all regional police officers and district police officers from using social media platforms.

A letter in this regard has been issued which states that police officers and personnel are not allowed to use social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, or Instagram. Regional police officers have been ordered to ensure strict implementation of this policy.

The restriction also extends to the use of WhatsApp by officers and personnel. The move aims to stop social media engagement by police officers while on duty to maintain focus and discipline.

The directive also bars the uploading of police badges or other identifiable evidence on social media.

The letter says that several officers have been found violating these SOPs, and it calls for departmental action against those who contravene the new policy.

According to the police leadership, the use of social media undermines the integrity of the police and poses risks to the safety of officers.
