RIYADH: The Saudi Space Agency has held several meetings with China’s government departments and business firms to discuss cooperation in the different fields including industry, technology, and space exploration, Arab media reported on Friday.
KSA, China Discuss Cooperation in Space, Industry, Technology Sectors
Abdullah Al-Swaha, head of the board of directors of the Kingdom Space Agency, held a meeting with top official of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. and other people from the space field in Beijing, China to discuss means to explore opportunities for strategic cooperation between the two sides.
A Saudi delegation also held dialogues with representatives of the Chinese firms Galactic Energy, MinoSpace, and China Electronics Technology Group Corp. to hold discussion on the spacecraft industry, and satellite.
They also met with executives from Galaxy Space firm that produces and sells satellites to discuss partnership opportunities in the field of science and space industry.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), reported that the Saudi Space Agency’s trip to Beijing is the latest step in efforts to enhance bilateral ties to further the space exploration.
The objective is to learn from China’s successes in the sector so that both sides can mutually benefit from the development and progress of space industries to the top world technology standards that are bolstered by new innovation, while facilitating efforts in Saudi Arabia to further enhance the transfer of knowledge, and achieve strategic targets, the Arab media maintained.
According to the SPA, the Saudi Space Agency has partnered with several international space organizations to help enhance the Kingdom’s stature in the field and position the country as a world leader in space innovation and exploration, the officials said.
Earlier, in May, Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al-Qarni joined two US nationals on the crew of the Axiom Mission 2, which successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS). After stay in the space they returned safely to Earth while Barnawi, a scientist, became the first Saudi female in space.
