KSA Vows to Support UN Efforts to Address Challenge of Food Security

RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour Al-Mushaiti has reaffirmed Riyadh’s support for the United Nations’ efforts in order to achieve food and water security, and address poverty worldwide.

Mansour Al-Mushaiti was speaking at the 43rd session of the Food and Agriculture Organization Conference in Rome.  The conference is also discussing water management to achieve food security and comprehensive support for efficient food production.

He said that the Agricultural Development Fund had executed lending policies aimed at bolstering the latest technologies. Al-Mushaiti said that the agricultural sector in Saudi Arabia had experienced an increase in investments.  He added that Saudi Arabia had achieved commendable levels of self-sufficiency in many agricultural crops.

They also discussed avenues for strategies and cooperation to further enhance it as per Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. He added that Saud Arabia placed importance on the various elements of food and agricultural mechanism. He also highlighted collaborating with local and global organizations to promote research. Such coordination is considered important for addressing challenges and achieving goals set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
