NEW YORK: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has signed a cooperation agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to improve sanitation services for the displaced population and host communities in Marib Governorate of Yemen, the Saudi Gazette reported.
With a total budget of $2.25 million, the agreement was signed by Advisor to the Royal Court and KSrelief Supervisor General, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, and IOM Director General, Amy Pope, during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The initiative aims to enhance access to safe sanitation facilities and waste management services in Marib. The project will involve the construction of 200 household latrines, the reconstruction of 600 cesspits, and the provision of waste management equipment. This will improve living conditions for around 47,598 people directly and benefit an additional 137,580 individuals indirectly.
