JEDDAH: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), represented by Director of Resources and Investment Department and official spokesperson Dr. Samer bin Abdullah Al-Jatili, has participated in a symposium on media’s role in humanitarian efforts, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
The symposium titled “Towards Humanitarian Media: The Role of the Press in Supporting Humanitarian Work and Highlighting Relief Efforts” was organized by the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA). It was held on the sidelines of the “Donors’ Conference to Support Displaced Persons and Refugees in the Sahel and Lake Chad Region” in Jeddah.
During his address, Dr. Al-Jatili stressed the critical role of effective communication in fostering participation and promoting social change, emphasizing that clear messaging enhances informed decision-making and collective action. He underscored that strengthening communication allows for a greater impact and sustainability of humanitarian efforts.
The symposium addressed key areas for future humanitarian cooperation among OIC member states, including the development of coordinated communication strategies among relief organizations and the necessity of providing correct information to the media to support transparency and efficacy in humanitarian efforts.
