Kuwaiti Doctors Perform Critical Surgeries in Gaza

LONDON: A medical of Kuwaiti doctors on Sunday conducted crucial surgeries on Palestinian patients at the Kuwait Specialized Hospital and the Gaza European Hospital in the war-hit Gaza Strip.

Dr. Mohammad Shamsah, an anesthesia consultant, said that the team from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society saved the life of a Palestinian who was injured critically during an Israeli attack in Khan Younis.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Hussein Al-Quwaian and surgery consultant Dr. Mohammad Haider successfully conducted a complex surgery of the amputation of a patient’s right foot, and the surgical repair of fractures in the left foot of another patient.

Dr. Faisal Al-Hajeri, Urology consultant said in a surgery a section of tissue was transplanted from the mouth to create a new urinary tract for a 50-year-old man suffering from severe infection.

He highlighted the extreme medical situation in the Gaza Strip, adding that more than 50 patients had been awaiting medical procedures for an extended period due to the ongoing war in the region which had severely hampered the availability of medical services and supplies.

He stressed the critical need for additional medical personnel and resources to support Gaza’s deteriorating healthcare system.

The team ended its medical mission on Sunday after conducting 23 operations to help injured and ill Palestinians seeking urgent medical care.
