BISHKEK: Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziev held a meeting with Ambassador Hasan Ali Zaigham of Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan, focusing on the recent incident in Bishkek.
According to local media reports, during the discussion, the Ambassador was briefed on the involvement of foreign nationals and the measures taken by Kyrgyzstan’s law enforcement agencies to maintain public order and prevent illegal activities.
Furthermore, Imangaziev urged Ambassador Zaigham to engage with Pakistani media to prevent the spread of misinformation regarding the incident. Imangaziev reassured the Ambassador that the situation remains under the control of Kyrgyzstan’s competent authorities.
The protest against foreigners, which began in Bishkek last night, concluded only on the morning of May 18. Police successfully negotiated with protesters, leading to the reopening of Chui Avenue and eventual dispersal. According to the Ministry of Health, 29 individuals sustained injuries during the protests.
