Kyrgyzstan President Calls for Prohibition of Mobile Phones in Schools

BISHKEK: Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov has emphasized the imperative of accelerating the digitalization process in schools and integrating cutting-edge technologies into the learning environment.

During a meeting focused on the development of preschool and school education, President Japarov directed the Ministry of Education to consider international practices that advocate for the prohibition of mobile phone usage within school premises. Highlighting concerns about the detrimental effects of mobile phones on students’ concentration and academic performance, he underscored the need for wider public discourse on the subject.

Proposing the initiation of comprehensive discussions on the usage and potential harms of mobile phones, President Japarov emphasized the significance of addressing distractions that hinder students’ engagement in the learning process.

Furthermore, President Japarov called upon the Ministry of Education and Science to thoroughly examine the impact of mobile phone usage on students’ educational experiences. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with parents to make informed decisions regarding mobile phone policies in schools.
