Labour Day Observed as Pakistan’s PM Vows to Ensure Labourers’ Welfare

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has vowed to ensure welfare and prosperity of labourers. He was addressing a gathering of labourers in Lahore in connection with International Labour Day on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister called upon business community and investors to accord top priority to welfare of their workers while formulating policies. Shehbaz Sharif said that the country could not make progress without prosperity of labourers.

He said the government fully acknowledges the hard work of labourers and determined to ensure their welfare and prosperity.

Referring to his recent visit of Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz Sharif said the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi leadership desired to see Pakistan a prosperous and strong country.

He said the delegations of Saudi businessmen and investors would visit Pakistan very soon.

Labour Day Observe in Other Parts of Country.

Meanwhile, people from across the country observed labour day to pay homage to the sacrifices of 1886 Chicago workers who sacrificed their lives demanding eight hours duty a day.

People in different parts of the country including the federal capital gathered at roads and streets to renew their pledge sending a message to employers to provide proper and on time wages along with healthy environment and provision of safety at work place.

Chief Ministers Tribute on Labour Day

On the occasion, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur stressed upon the importance of honouring the dignity and rights of the hardworking and lower class of society.

In a message the chief minister highlighted the crucial role of the labour force in development of the country and emphasized the need to ensure their well-being and rights protection.

In his message Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that the being wheels of the country, workers played a pivotal role and provincial government was working hard for the economic stability of the labourers and also ensuring the provision of education and proper health facilities to their children.

On the occasion, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan and States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Engr Amir Muqam paid homage to the laborers adding that they required special attention not only from the government but also from all the concerned sections of the society.
