GENEVA: There is “critically low” access to water in the Gaza Strip and “catastrophic hunger” is affecting a significant portion of the population, while there are only two “stabilization centres” for severely malnourished children, the United Nations agencies warn.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) more than 142 Palestinian people were killed and 396 injured in Israeli strikes between Monday and Friday afternoon.

Due to the rising lack of security in Gaza, there are currently no international emergency medical teams operating in southern Rafah or the north of the Palestinian territory, OCHA stated. It added that persistent fuel shortages due to Israel’s border blockade of the territory “threaten the functioning of vital medical infrastructure and equipment in the region.

Similarly, Carl Skau, deputy executive director of the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) said that more than one million displaced people in southern Gaza are “trapped without clean water”, and “the level of destruction is shocking”.

According to Medical sources that 25 Palestinian people were killed in the Gaza Strip on Friday. An infant was also killed in a strike on Gaza City’s Tuffah neighbourhood, where 30 people were wounded. Meanwhile, Group of Seven (G7) leaders said that the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency must be permitted to work unhindered in the Gaza strip.

Gaza Health Ministry said that more than 37,266 people have been killed over 85,102 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7.
