LAHORE: Pakistan Railways (PR) authorities have temporarily suspended train service between Lahore and Faisalabad following the collapse of a pillar on a railway bridge between Shahdara and Masan Kalan area.

According to initial reports, the Lahore-Faisalabad railway track has been closed for a period of 72 hours.

The affected services include the Lahore to Faisalabad Marvi Express, Ghouri Express, and Badar Express. Due to the track closure, the Karachi to Lahore-bound Karakoram Express has been rerouted via Sahiwal.

Similarly, changes have been made to the routes of Mianwali Express and Shalimar Express.

According to a PR spokesperson, the staff were present at the site when the pillar collapsed and promptly halted train operations for safety reasons. “The restoration work on the bridge has commenced, and it is expected to be completed within the next 72 hours.”

Railways authorities are working to restore the track and resume normal train operations as early as possible.
