FAISALABAD: At Bohranwali Ground, Faisalabad, Karachi clinched a 22-run victory over Rawalpindi in the tenth round of the National Women’s One-Day Tournament on Wednesday. Omaima Sohail’s resilient half-century (67 runs off 86 balls, including 7 boundaries) propelled Karachi to a total of 167 all out in 41 overs.
Karachi’s spinners, spearheaded by Omaima (4 wickets for 34 runs), played a pivotal role in containing Rawalpindi to 145 all out in 49.4 overs. Maham Manzoor and Syeda Aroob Shah contributed with five wickets between them.
In a gripping encounter at Iqbal Stadium, Peshawar successfully defended their modest total of 110 runs against Multan, securing victory by a narrow margin of four runs. Aleena Shah’s gritty 40-run innings guided Peshawar to the target despite the challenge posed by Multan’s Noor-ul-Iman, who claimed five wickets for 15 runs.
Multan seemed poised for victory at 76-2 before collapsing dramatically, losing eight wickets for just 30 runs and falling short by a heartbreaking four runs with six balls remaining.
At Jawad Sports Complex, Quetta, after electing to bat first, struggled to build momentum, with Khadija Chishti and Arijah Haseeb top-scoring with 23 runs each, guiding their team to a total of 105 all out in 49.1 overs. Lahore’s Noreen Yaqoob and Ayesha Bilal picked up three wickets each, while Quratulain dismissed two batters.
In response, Dua Majid led Lahore’s chase with an unbeaten half-century (52 runs off 71 balls, including 6 boundaries), forging a 55-run opening partnership with Samiya Afsar (31 runs off 43 balls, including 2 boundaries and 1 six) and an unbroken 53-run second-wicket alliance with Iram Javed (20 not out off 31 balls, including 2 boundaries), guiding them to victory in 24 overs.
Having finished as the top two teams with nine wins each in the double round-robin stage, Lahore and Karachi will square off in the tournament final at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, on May 11th.
