LAHORE: In preparations for the smooth conduct of PSL Season 9, Lahore Police has launched intelligence-based search operations and strict crackdowns against gamblers and criminals.
The Lahore Police spokesperson said on Friday that in anticipation of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) event, 165 cases have been filed against bookies, resulting in the arrest of 771 individuals. A substantial amount of over 24 lakh and 54 thousand has been recovered.
He said that a total of 589 search operations have been carried out this year so far. During these operations, a thorough check has been conducted on 16,995 houses, 8,224 tenants, and 59,362 individuals, while 121 individuals have been apprehended under the Tenancy Act.
He added that 10 wanted criminals have been arrested during these operations, and ten drug-related cases have been registered.
Moreover, 11 individuals have been detained under Section 55/109 of the Criminal Code, he added.
To ensure security measures remain stringent during the PSL matches, the Lahore Police emphasized the continuation of search operations throughout the city.
In the statement, it highlighted the implementation of search, sweep, combing, and intelligence-based operations around the players’ accommodations, routes, and the stadium.

Furthermore, The Lahore Police Commissioner Bilal Siddique Kamiana emphasized the importance of raiding casinos and bringing online gambling players under the law.
Speaking about the purpose of these operations, he emphasized cracking down on miscreants, wanted, and other criminals.
