ISLAMABAD: A large endangered Bengal monitor lizard has been found in an imported shipping container in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
The Fujairah Environment Authority (FEA)’s biodiversity team received a phone complaint from a company stating that there was an animal inside an imported container. The team handled it with caution and found the reptile, Arab media reported on Sunday.
Endangered animal handed over to the zoo
The team kept the endangered animal in quarantine and then, in communication and coordination with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, handed it over to Umm Al Quwain Zoo.
The authority called on people to contact them if they spot any strange animals, urging them not to handle such species themselves.
