RIYADH: A series of events organized in Riyadh to mark the 2023 World Tourism Day (WTD) have successfully concluded, earning praise from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for being the largest and most influential celebration in its 43-year history.
This year’s WTD celebration, held under the theme “Tourism & Green Investments,” saw the active participation of more than 50 tourism ministers, 120 officials, and over 500 experts and industry leaders. UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili also participated in the participation.
Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb thanked the Kingdom’s leadership for their unwavering and continuous support for the tourism sector. He attributed the sector’s historic progress in terms of job creation and investments to the special attention and substantial support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Al-Khateeb highlighted Saudi Arabia’s remarkable achievements and its contributions to the global tourism landscape, particularly through the organization and hosting of various international events that played a crucial role in revitalizing the global tourism sector to pre-pandemic levels.
Riyadh Announces International Tourism Academy on World Tourism Day
The World Tourism Day activities and sessions held in Riyadh were dedicated to enhancing international cooperation and promoting sustainable development within the global tourism sector.
The event also witnessed the Kingdom’s announcement of new details about the International Tourism Academy, a valuable contribution from Riyadh to the world. The academy offers international educational and vocational programs in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
