ISLAMABAD: Three persons were injured when a leopard attacked a house near the Government Girls Primary School in Biroot Khurd Sangrirri village of Abbottabad district in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The injured persons included a woman and two men.
Local residents managed to capture the leopard and handed it over to officials from the Wildlife Department.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges related to wildlife and human interactions. Earlier this year, in February, the Wildlife Department recovered two leopard cubs from Jabbari Forest in Abbottabad. The cubs, estimated to be between two and three months old, were found by locals and were subsequently placed in an enclosure for care and feeding.
The rise in such incidents is attributed to excessive deforestation, which is driving wild animals closer to human habitats.
