SYDNEY: Four individuals found themselves in the path of a lightning bolt near the iconic Sydney Opera House on Monday. Seeking refuge from a violent electrical storm, they huddled beneath a tree in the Botanic Gardens, only to be struck by the powerful force of nature.

New South Wales ambulance service’s Dominic Wong recounted the ordeal, noting that the victims, comprising two men and two women ranging from late teens to their 30s, experienced a brief loss of consciousness as the lightning surged through their bodies. Alongside burns, they exhibited symptoms indicative of cardiac distress. Swift action by paramedics at the scene ensured immediate medical attention, stabilizing the injured before they were swiftly transported to Sydney hospitals for further treatment.

Despite the severity of the incident, all four individuals were reported to be in a “serious and stable” condition upon arrival at the medical facilities. This unsettling event serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable and potentially life-threatening nature of electrical storms, particularly in open spaces.
