LIVERPOOL: Liverpool recorded their major victory ever against Manchester United with a 7-0 at Anfield. Goals from Cody Gakpo (2), Darwin Nunez (2), Mohamed Salah (2) and Roberto Firmino took Red to win 3 points of the top four, but they also put an end to discussion that third-place Manchester United could yet win the Premier League. The defeat means Manchester United have now scored just once on their last 7 visits to Liverpool and haven’t won at Anfield since 2016.

A week following ending their 6-year trophy dearth by winning the Carabao Cup — a victory which encouraged talk of a quadruple this season – Manchester United were humiliated by their main rivals at Anfield. Two goals apiece from Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo, plus a late goal from Roberto Firmino, lifted United to 5th position.

The irony for Manchester United was that they had completely controlled much of the 1st half and wasted good opportunities before Cody Gakpo put Liverpool ahead in the 43rd minute of the match. From that point on, Manchester United completely collapsed.
