Local Government By-Polls to Be Held in Sindh

SLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has made all necessary arrangements to ensure free, fair and transparent polls by conducting the revote in reply to accusations of misconduct during the last local government polls held in 15 districts of Sindh.

The elections will be held today and will include elections for Chairman, Vice Chairman, and General Members. According to media reports, a total of 109,687 registered voters are going to cast their votes, with 59,310 men and 50,377 women voters in fifteen districts of the province.

Local Government Elections

The ECP made the arrangements to address the concerns and allegations regarding irregularities in the last elections. The local government elections will be held with the help from fifteen district returning officers, 26 returning officers, and fifty two assistant returning officers. As many as 81 polling stations have been established across the districts, including separate polling stations for male and female as well as joint stations.

The districts where the re-polling will be held include Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Tharparkar Jamshoro, Hyderabad, and Badin.
