KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Sunday evening said that the low turnout in the local government elections in urban centers of Sindh proved that people rejected the bogus electoral process.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Siddiqui said that such a low turnout could not reflect the true representation of people. In Karachi and Hyderabad, there was most rigging.

He said that nobody was ready to accept the result of local bodies elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.

Siddiqui claimed that Karachi was deprived of its seventy Union Councils seats which were also accepted by the Election Commission of Pakistan. He questioned whether it was not the responsibility of ECP to hold free and fair elections.s

Karachi deprived of 70 seats

Speaking alongside Siddiqui, another MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar accused Karachi had been deprived of its 70 seats. “Whoever wins the elections, he should be grateful to MQM because if we would contest the polls, no one else would be able to get the victory”, he claimed.
