LUMS Celebrates Graduation of 1,407 Students at 36th Convocation

LAHORE: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) celebrated the graduation of 1,407 scholars at its 36th Convocation.

Held in separate ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students across LUMS’ five schools, the event was a momentous occasion attended by proud families, friends, and faculty.

Key figures such as Pro-Chancellor Abdul Razak Dawood, Rector Shahid Hussain, and Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Cheema graced the ceremony.

Members of the Board of Trustees, Deans, and faculty also joined to celebrate the achievements of the graduates and share in their joy.

The Convocation commenced with a warm welcome from Zara Fateh Qizilbash, Registrar, followed by the formal inauguration by Pro-Chancellor Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood. Dr. Cheema congratulated the graduates and urged them to strive to create societal value over personal gain.

Addressing the undergraduates later in the day, he highlighted their role in shaping a better future and commemorated three students who passed away during the academic year: Muhammad Zaryab Saroya, Syed Musa, and Abdul Hadi Khan.

Valedictorians Dua Zahra and Syed Muhammad Sarim Gillani reflected on their transformative journey at LUMS, expressing gratitude for the enriching educational experience and the privilege of learning alongside some of the nation’s brightest minds.

Keynote speakers Prof. Ayesha Jalal, Mary Richardson Professor of History at Tufts University, and Musadaq Zulqarnain, Chairman of Interloop Limited, shared valuable insights. Prof. Jalal emphasized resilience, while Zulqarnain encouraged graduates to pursue their passions and find joy in their work.

The ceremony concluded on a positive note, with graduates eager to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in their careers and lives.
