NEW YORK: Meta-owned platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, faced a widespread outage across the US, leaving thousands of users unable to access their accounts.

According to Downdetector, over 10,000 complaints have been submitted, the majority related to Instagram.

While Meta has yet to acknowledge the issue, disruptions have also been reported on Messenger and Workplace, raising concerns among users globally. Users in India have also reported issues.

Downdetector data shows that around 67% of users are facing problems with the Instagram app, including login issues (9%) and server connection problems (25%).

The disruptions, which began in the morning, have affected Instagram users across multiple regions of the US.

Despite the widespread issues, Meta has not yet officially acknowledged the outage. The company’s status page indicates that all Meta services, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, are operating normally.

This outage follows a series of disruptions Meta platforms experienced last year, including a global outage in March that affected Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

As users continue to face difficulties accessing the platforms, many have turned to alternative social media sites, such as X, to vent their frustration and seek updates.

Downdetector’s data is based on user-reported incidents, so the actual number of affected users may vary.
