Major Reshuffle in Punjab Bureaucracy: CS, IGP, CCPO Replaced

ISLAMABAD: In a major late-night development, the federal government appointed Zahid Akhtar Zaman as Chief Secretary (CS) of the Punjab province. 

He replaced Abdullah Sumbal who has been directed to report to the establishment division. Akhtar, a grade 21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, has been serving under the Punjab government as a senior member of the Board of Revenue.

In another key administrative reshuffle, Dr. Usman Anwar has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Punjab. Dr. Usman, who replaced Aamir Zulfiqar Khan as IGP Punjab, has served in the FIA and Punjab’s special branch at key posts. Khan has been directed to report to the establishment division for further orders.

Meanwhile, Bilal Siddique Kamyana has once again been posted as Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Lahore in place of Ghulam Mahmood Dogar who has been transferred and instructed to report to the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) for further orders. Kamyana has already served in this position for a brief period during the chief ministership of Hamza Shehbaz Sharif last year.

Further changes in Punjab bureaucracy on the cards

More changes in Punjab bureaucracy are on the cards following the appointment of caretaker Punjab chief minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi who took charge of the office on Monday afternoon.
